Phir le aya dil song meaning and lyrics

Phir le aaya Dil is a fairly easy song to understand lyrics-wise, if you have good knowledge of Hindi and Urdu. In terms of movie and it’s picturization it assumes greater meaning. Ileana and Ranbir shared a mutual feeling of love but couldn't marry because of Ranbir's disabilities and her mother's devious scheming. She meets Ranbir after long time and is somewhat saddened to see Ranbir in love with Priyanka. She on the other hand is trapped in an unloving, unhappy marriage. Hence, the lyrics of the song achieve a greater meaning and lend gravitas to the plot.

Net is abound with translations, so i would rather try to explain it’s meaning as per my understanding and interpretation. I will highlight the stanzas in bold above the meaning.

It sounds like thoughts and experiences of a lover whose love is unrequited but as fate has it, he keeps running into his lover. His heart is helpless as it keeps bringing him to his lover repeatedly. It can’t accept the distances between the lover and it’s source of desire. His heart keeps on yearning and repeating to go ahead and finish that unfinished business, i.e. those incomplete conversations(professing love to your lover) and the resultant incomplete memories(sad memories).

It’s as if fate itself accepts and wants the lover and his beloved to keep meeting after irregular intervals and has made some kind of an unspoken rule about it. The lover should hence keep going and in turn connect these successive links to complete that unfinished path that leads him to his lover, that incomplete wish that keeps haunting him.
